If you and your loved one are citizens of other countries and wish to get married in La Romana, you must meet several legal conditions.  You must abide by these in order to assure your marriage is valid and recognized in the Dominican Republic and your country of residence alike. 

Below we provide all necessary information which will help you to effectively carry out the process, please remember to bring along with you the following documents:Legal requirements to wed

• Passports
• Original copies of birth certificates
• Proof of your marital status, authenticated by the Dominican Consulate in the country of issuance 
• Divorce certificate(s) (if the situation warrants) authenticated by the Dominican Consulate in the country of issuance 

All documents must be translated into Spanish by an official translator and stamped by the Dominican Embassy or Consulate in the country of issuance.
After the ceremony, the couple will be presented with a document attribuiting validity to the marriage.  You must request a Marriage Certificate to the local Justice of the Peace.  The document is usually available a day or two after the ceremony. This is a binding legal document, valid anywhere in the world.
