La Romana

In La Romana, visitors can purchase the finest of Dominican arts and crafts in the many shops lining the streets of downtown.

La Romana is the third most popular city in the country after Santo Domingo and Santiago de los Caballeros, and representative of true Dominican culture.

Like most Dominican towns, it is replete with life, the happiness of its people, the music, street stalls where you can find everything from coconut water to sophisticated electronic equipment will make your visit an unforgettable experience.

In the Dominican Republic, the official national sport is baseball and La Romana is home to a Dominican major league team, Los Toros del Este. Between the months of October to early February, you can be a spectator at one of the games and experience firsthand the romanenses joy and passion for this national pastime in the Francisco A. Micheli stadium.

During the months of November to April, spectacular views can be had of majestic cruises entering our port as the cruise season is in full swing during this time.

Santa Rosa de Lima Festivities
From 19 to 30 August, the Romanenses pay homage to the patron saint, Santa Rosa de Lima. Religious novenas take place culminated by a Mass at main church and topped off with different games and activities throughout the town.

To witness this folk tradition you need to become part of it by participating in the most vibrant celebrations in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic and, as usual, Merengue and Bachata prevail as the country's traditional music.
