Bayahibe
White sand beaches, quaint picturesque village and friendly people.
Just 25 minutes from La Romana and next to the destination’s best resorts, you will be transported into the genuine warmth and culture of the destination.
A picturesque fishing village, whose majesty comes to life on this part of the coast. The edges of its white sandy beaches are decorated with simple, colorful wooden boats that navigate these waters, where fishing is still a way of life even today.
Throughout the humble village, houses are constructed of wood, painted in vibrant Caribbean colors. Fresh water lagoons in the center of the village provide opportunities for swimming and social gathering for its inhabitants, the urban change that has experienced this fishing community has not change their customs and traditions.
At Punta Bayahibe, an archaeological site holds the remains left by the first human settlers living on the island more than 2000 years before Christ. In addition, you can find the first Christian wooden church in the area, which was built in 1925 and imported from the United States.
Another natural attraction found only in the community of Bayahibe is a small forest filled by the endemic flora, Pereskia Quisqueyana, or flower of Bayahibe, a native plant belonging to the cactus family and which is found exclusively on the Southern coast of the Dominican Republic.
Choose a place to end your day by the sea by sipping on a refreshing tropical cocktail in one of the local restaurants, and enjoy the one of the most beautiful sunsets you have ever seen. Delight in the specialty of the area, seafood dishes, lobster, or conch served fresh to order from the vibrant waters of the Caribbean Sea.
