The destination of La Romana-Bayahibe is comprised of five separate and distinct communities, each with their own particular enchantment.

Enjoy a tour of a sixteenth-century Mediterranean village populated by artists and bohemians from different cultures. Discover pristine white sand beaches that give life to more than 10 internationally renowned resorts, and feel like a pirate exploring caves once inhabited by native Taino indians while discovering rock art from centuries ago.

La Romana is the country’s third largest city and is world renowned for its comfortable lifestyle, world-class accommodations and breath taking golf courses. World famous Casa de Campo is found on the outskirts of the city and is home to Altos de Chavon, Casa de Campo Marina and the Casa de Campo International Cruise Port. The city of La Romana offers fine dining and shopping facilities, art galleries, tours through the world’s largest tobacco factory and unforgettable snapshots of “everyday Dominican life.”

Bayahibe is a traditional fishing village surrounded by turquoise clear waters, white sand beaches and home to a gregarious, “easy living” people. This small town offers excursions to the National Park of the East, numerous sea side restaurants, souvenir shops and a scattering of small hotels and economy accommodations.

Dominicus Americanus is a unique residential and tourist settlement with some of the country’s most pristine beaches and impressive all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean.  Influenced by the numerous Italian residents, the area offers great restaurants, gift shops, beauty salons and other amenities.  A Tourist Information Center offers visitors a bounty of complementary information on the destination.

Boca de Yuma is not to be missed. A once important port area, Boca de Yuma offers a secondary gateway to the National Park of the East, a glimpse into colonial life in the original home to Ponce de Leon and the country’s best fresh fried fish. Fishing and river tours provided daily.

National Park of the East dominates the destination and is accessible by land or sea. Popular tours include day trips to the islands of Saona or Catalina and can be booked in advance or on the spot in Bayahibe. Caves featuring Taino rock art and underground lagoons offer unique opportunities for cavern diving or exploration.  Guided tours available at “Padre Nuestro” (Our Father) Arqueological and Ecotouristic Trail near the Bayahibe entrance or at Cueva Berna (Berna’s Cave) in Boca de Yuma.
