Romana – Bayahibe has received both national and international recognition as world-class destination.

Caribbean Blue Flag Blue Flag Programme
The beautiful beaches of Dominicus Americanus were one of the first to be honored with this international environmental quality recognition in the Caribbean. This certification is only awarded to beaches that guarantee safe water quality, designated bathing areas, and effective management of the coastal zone.

Awarded in 2001 to La Romana – Bayahibe, which is sponsored by American Express and Caribbean Hotel Association.

La Romana-Bayahibe was recognized in 2009 by Island Magazine and the Caribbean Tourism Organization, for being the first finalist in the category of Sustainable Tourism.
