Meet the world's largest handmade cigar factory, through an unique cultural experience.

The Cuban revolution and, subsequent U.S. embargo on Cuba, kicked off a series of events which challenged the supremacy of caigars in the market.

Renowned Cuban cigar makers left in exile to the Dominican Republic, where premium cigars began to be produced with the seed and skills inherited from previous generations.
One of these tobacco makers was Pepe García  from the García Menéndez family, owners of the H. Upmann Cigar Factory, also manufacturers of Monte Cristo. Don Pepe founded Tabacalera de Garcia cigar factory in 1971, at the first Industrial Zone in the Dominican Republic located in La Romana.
Today the Dominican Republic holds the title of one of the world's largest exporters of handmade cigars. Tabacalera de García, a subsidiary of Altadis USA, is the largest of these producers, as well as creators of the best Dominican cigars, univaled in quality and consistency.

There are two types of guided tours available. One called "Cigar Enthusiasts", lasting 30 minutes and "Cigar Aficionado", of approximately 60 minutes. You can visit Tabacalera de García during the following days and times:

Schedule:
Effective May 3, 2011, Tabacalera de García and its Visitors' Center will open daily from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.  We will close on December 25 (Christmas Day), January 1 (New Year's Day) and Easter Sunday.
