Montecarlo Plaza, located in the Dominicus - Bayahibe tourist compelx, is an activity center where visitors are encouraged to create genuine Dominican handicrafts. Free courses are offered daily, so travelers may experience firsthand the making of traditional craftwork, made with genuine Dominican materials.
We provide transportation free of charge, from the hotel to the Plaza, and vice versa.
The area is patrolled by security officers, and enforced with security cameras, in order to provide our visitors, the tranquility and peace of mind they come to expect.
We are open to the public every day, from 10:00 A.M to 9:00 P.M.
There is free wifi access.
Our activities include:
- Artisanal activitties every Tuesday, taught by artists, who also exhibit their works. These are 100% hand-made by local and international craftsmen.
- Embark every Thursday in the Chocolate Trail. Sample the best local organic cocoa harvested in the province of Hato Mayor. Experience its diferent manifestations: hot cocoa, liquor and truffles. Additionally, you may also trek on the Macadamia Trail.
- On Saturday a trade school for young talents opens. Adolescents, as children starting from the age of sx are taught crafts, how to make woven bracelets, painting, storytelling and are shown movies, as well as other activities.

On Friday, May 27, the Altos de Chavón School of Design will present its 27th annual student fashion show, in the Flamboyán Room at Casa de Campo's conference center. It's a special night, when Chavón's Fashion Design students present their work to the public. This year's theme is "The Silk Road".

As of April 5, 2001, American Eagle - a sister company of American Airlines - opened two daily flights from La Romana International Airport and Miami International Airport. The new frequency will be serviced by an ERJ-145 jet with 50 seats. These are the routes: Miami (MIA), 1:05 pm / La Romana (LRM), 3:20 pm, La Romana (LRM), 3:55 pm / Miami (MIA), 6:35 pm. In the American Airlines website, www.aa.com, you can book, finding the details and cost of flights (from 118 to 376 U.S. $). In July, are planning a change in departure time.

Leonel Duran (INFOTEP) and Kelly Robinson (AHRB) present Benerito community students with their training certificates. The ceremony was held at the Mangia Mangia Restaurant in Bayahibe.
Bayahibe. 866 professionals in La Romana - Bayahibe have received specialized training since the Regional Education Project was initiated two years ago, sposored by the La Romana - Bayahibe Hotel Association (AHRB, for its acronym in Spanish), Instituto Nacional de Formación Técnica Profesional (INFOTEP), and the backing of the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB). Courses taught by INFOTEP were geared toward the communities of Bayahibe, Benedicto (Benerito), Saona Island, San Rafael de Yuma and Padre Nuestro Villages, with the purpose of training and accrediting participants, giving them better job opportunities in the hospitalary and tourism market.

Bávaro (Punta Cana). On March 5, Catalonia Bavaro Beach, Golf and Casino Resort held the graduation ceremony of the First Generation of MARTI Hotels in Dominican Republic - composed by the Catalonia Royal Bávaro,Catalonia Gran Dominicus and host hotel.
Founded by Conservation International, Coral Reef Alliance, Friends of Sian Ka'an and the Hotel Association of the Riviera Maya AC (AHRM) Initiative Mesoamerican Reef Tourism (MARTI) promotes Environmental Management Systems and Best Practices in the hotel industry - i.e. the efficient and rational use of natural resources and materials used in their daily operations and creating awareness among employees, suppliers and guests. MARTI Hotels and contribute to the conservation of natural resources of the Caribbean - the main attraction for tourists - and gain a secondary time, being more competitive in the modern environmentally responsible tourism markets.
Today, MARTI has a partnership with 120 hotels (with 33.202 rooms) in the Riviera Maya, Cancún, Cozumel and the Dominican Republic. In order to graduate, Catalonia Hotels in Dominican Republic have demonstrated their proper environmental policy and participation of all employees, under the leadership of the Green Team, a plan for solid waste management and reduced water consumption and energy.

Seven women, Dominican women, mothers and artists brought together by their love for art present an exhibit in the Main Gallery at Altos de Chavón that seeks to answer the puzzling question, "What women want? The seven artists agree that the answer is simple: Nothing but love, period.
Onice Mejía, América Olivo, Olivette Santoni, Miguelina Rivera, Sara Martínez, Rafaela Luna and Michelle Vélez Cordero. Mejía, Olivo, Santoni, Rivera and Martinez are graduates of The School of Design, Altos de Chavón. Onice was born and raised in La Romana, has been nominated twice for the National Award for Youth, has participated in over ten solo and group exhibitions in the country and internationally. The vast majority of the work produced by this young artist is in private collections in Spain, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Perú, Miami, Jersey, Paris, Spain and Iceland.

The area composed by Padre Nuestro (Our Fathers) - in the vicinity of the National Park East, within walking distance of the village of Bayahibe - is renowned for its springs in spectacular caves with petroglyphs of the ancient Taino Indian, or for its captivating Eco-Tourism Trail and unique vegetation characterized by giant cacti. Padre Nuestro may offer visitors more, a one-of-a-kind tour for those who have a penchant for exhilarating, reserved for the select few aptly-trained and adequately-equipped. Cave diving is another feat to embark upon on; extreme is synonymous to danger and, as such, one needs a high level of technical skills and experience to be able to safetly enjoy this sport.

BoMana Foundation celebrated its First International Jazz and Fusion Music Festival 2011 on March 12 - 13, 2011 at the Calasanz Cultural Center located in front of San Eduardo School, in the Quisqueya district.
Milikin Univeristy has greatly attributed to the cultural development of this organization and the inhabitants of La Romana, as detailed below.

CASA DE CAMPO REGATTA 2011 First Part of the Catalina - Santo Domingo Circuit Casa de Campo Marina - La Romana, Dominican Republic
The Casa de Campo Regatta will be held at the Casa de Campo Marina, in the Dominican Republic, from March 11 to 13, organized by the Casa de Campo Yacht Club (CCYC), in collaboration with the Dominican Sailing Federation (FDV, for its accronym in Spanish) and the Dominican Ocean Sailing Competition (ADVELCO, for its accronyn in Spanish). This is also the first race of the Catalina - Santo Domingo 2011 Circuit.

The beautiful beaches of the Bayahibe tourist area of were awarded time ago, the recognition of being "Blue Flag", this certification is only awarded to beaches that guarantee water saludrity, the quality of the sand, security in the bathing areas and sustainable management of the coastal strip This certification involves a selective ecolabel awarded to more than 3,450 beaches and marinas in 41 countries in Europe, Morocco, Tunisia, South Africa, Brazil, Canada, New Zealand and the Caribbean. The Blue Flag is a recognized symbol that requires compliance of demanding health and environmental levels, the existence of proper sanitation with no spills, and rescue service, first aid at the Blue Flag beach or port.
The Blue Flag is awarded annually to ensure continued compliance of its standards and as a result of this, water analysis in each of the Bayahibe beaches related to the program was made: Be Live Canoa Beach Hotel, beach Hotel Catalonia Beach Hotel Iberostar, Public Beach Bayahibe, Punta Laguna Beach and Viva Wyndham Beach Hotel .

La Romana - Alexander Lumsden, Swedish, arrived at Altos de Chavon during 2008, attracted by all the information received about this school, unique in the entire Caribbean and enrolled in the program for two years, he graduated from Fine Arts / Illustration career. His excellent academic performance encourages his participation in further studies such as the New York Academy of Art and Design School trade under the name of Drawing on Sight + Site.

La Romana - In recent days we have been enjoying an interesting exhibition by young Puerto Rican artist Carlos Santiago. The exhibition features a series of 20 canvases painted in oil, which displays a collection of Madonnas, considered until now by some viewers as religious, because of the peaceful feeling that conveys to the observer.
