Introduction

The marine area of Bayahibe, located in the heart of the Caribbean Sea, contains one of the most important coraline ecosystems of the Antilles. The purpose of this diving guide is to inform divers throughout the world of the possibilities of exploring these underwater sites and guiding them so that they may choose among the specialized scuba diving centers of the zone and select the option best suited to their needs.

Within these coral reefs, we find all the colorful fauna of the tropics. Calm, clean and transparent waters, splattered by whole schools of dolphins. Ancient wrecks of the colonial era with old cannons, as well as sunken cargo ships of the modern era, rest in shallow waters. Their shells, visited by great schools of fish, are among the attractions waiting to fulfill the dreams of divers who explore the waters of Bayahibe and Parque Bayahibe, some of the caverns we find, just over 3 kilometers from the hotel zone, contain beautiful underground lakes of clear water resembling crystal. Here, great dives are possibe to explore galleries sunken thousands of years ago, after the last glacial period, spelaeological formations, stalactites and stalagmites columns, forgotten paths through which the divers navigate, creating pools of light with their flashlights. All this underwater treasure may be enjoyed by means of the excellent structure maintained by the dive clubs in Bayahibe.

The most modern dive equipment and the best boats offer divers all they need to enjoy the experience, guided by expert scuba diving instructors. For those who have never experienced the great feeling of diving with tanks, the Bayahibe dive clubs also offer scuba diving classes which, in just a few days, allow beginners to explore the wonderful waters of the coral reefs. For those who prefer to dive without tanks, Bayahibe also offers shallow reefs, ideal for exploring marine life and the brilliant colors of the reefs.
