Boca de Yuma
Boca de Yuma is a small fishing town on the northeastern tip of the National Park of the East. This area for the most part is passed over by tourists because of the lack of sandy beaches, however there is a beach that can be reached by ferry and is an ideal location for a quiet get-away. Close by visitors will find the home of conquistador Ponce de León who settled here around 1500 and established a farm that provided provisions such as pork and bread to the workers in the gold mines and the bustling town of Santa Domingo. Today the house has been renovated and is maintained by the Parks Department who operate it as a museum. For more information on Ponce de León click here. |
