La Romana has a thriving art scene where visitors have a chance to view and purchase art by area artisans. Altos de Chavon is an artist mecca where visitors are exposed to art and artists working in an open studio setting.

A Gallery located at Altos de Chavon is dedicated to the promotion of national culture through the exhibition of Dominican art. It is divided into three distinct spaces with exhibits changing about once a month. The Gallery also allows a number of high level international exhibitors. Workshops at the Altos de Chavon feature trained local artists creating ceramic, woven fibre and silkscreen products.
